BrüMate MultiShaker Review: Hard Not to Like

More big drinkware brands are jumping into insulated shaker bottles these days. Hydro Flask has one. Stanley has one. And BrüMate clearly decided it wasn’t going to sit this one out.

The result is the BrüMate MultiShaker, a 25 oz insulated shaker packed with some of the brand’s most recognizable design ideas and patented features. I’ve usually had good experiences with BrüMate products, and their Era tumbler surprised me in the best possible way, so I was curious to see what the MultiShaker could bring to the table.

It didn’t disappoint. In fact, I think it’s one of the best shaker bottles I’ve tested so far.

At the moment, the MultiShaker costs around $35-$38, depending on the color, and it’s available only in the 25 oz size. I bought mine in Dark Aura, and I have to say, it might be one of the best color choices I’ve made in my drinkware-testing career.

Let’s take a closer look at what this shaker does well, where it falls a little short, and whether it’s worth the money.

Insulation

BrüMate says the MultiShaker can keep drinks cold for 24+ hours with ice. I tested it without ice, and the results were still very solid.

I poured in water at 33.8°F / 1°C, and after 24 hours, it had risen to 59.5°F / 15.3°C. I usually consider a drink properly cold as long as it stays below 15°C, so the MultiShaker came very close to that premium 24-hour cold retention mark without a single cube of ice.

That’s not something every insulated shaker can pull off.

Is it as strong as some of my best insulated water bottles? No. I own bottles that keep drinks colder for longer. But shaker bottles have a different job. They need to mix well, clean easily, feel comfortable at the gym, and handle daily use without being annoying.

With that in mind, I’d call the MultiShaker’s insulation impressive for an insulated shaker.

And one important thing to know: the MultiShaker is not intended for hot liquids. It doesn’t handle pressure buildup very well, so this is a cold-drinks-only option, like most shaker bottles.

Lid Usability

The lid and cap on this shaker come with a few clever features. I’m always a sucker for small design choices that actually make daily use better, and BrüMate added a couple here.

First, this thing feels not just leakproof, but almost overbuilt in the best way. The cap closes securely, and on top of that, there’s a locking tab you can slide up and down. I always appreciate a proper lock because I’ve had bottles open inside my bag before. Sometimes the button got pressed. Sometimes the cap caught on something. Either way, it’s not a fun surprise. With this lid, that problem is basically off the table.

Another nice touch is that the cap stays open while you drink. BrüMate uses neodymium magnets to make it spring open and stay in place, so it doesn’t flop around or hit your face. It’s a small feature, but if you’ve ever used a bottle with a loose, dangling cap, you know how annoying that can get.

The drinking opening is fairly large, so the flow rate is great for chugging. I can’t seal it fully with my lips, though, so in theory there’s a small risk of splashing your face if you drink too aggressively. That said, I haven’t had a single splash so far.

I’ve seen a few reviews mention that protein powder can make the lid feel almost glued to the bottle, making it difficult to unscrew. I tested this many times myself and haven’t had that issue. Yes, it does take a bit of force to open, but that’s pretty normal for a secure shaker lid.

Portability

The MultiShaker is fairly portable, especially compared to many other insulated shakers.

It’s not light at 18.8 oz when empty, but the flexible handle on the lid makes a big difference. It fits all four fingers comfortably, so the weight feels easier to manage. I much prefer this setup over side handles or bottles with no proper handle at all.

The grip on my Dark Aura version is also surprisingly good. I’m not sure if every color has the same finish, but this one feels secure in the hand, even when my palms are sweaty. That’s especially useful for a shaker bottle, since gym use and sweaty hands tend to go together. BrüMate also added side indents, which make the grip even better.

Cup holder compatibility is another plus. I measured the base myself, and it’s under 3 inches in diameter. Car cup holders vary, of course, but from my experience, anything under 3 inches has a very good chance of fitting even smaller ones.

So while the MultiShaker is not exactly lightweight, the handle, firm grip, side indents, and narrow base make it quite portable for an insulated shaker.

Ease of Cleaning

My shaker bottles need to be fairly easy to clean because I don’t use them only for water. Protein shakes, pre-workouts, and other drinks can leave residue behind, so cleaning matters a lot here. Luckily, the MultiShaker does well in this area.

The bottle itself is not dishwasher-safe, mainly because of its slick finish. That beautiful exterior could get damaged in the dishwasher. Personally, this isn’t a big deal because I wash all my bottles by hand anyway. That’s also what I usually recommend, even when a brand says its bottle is dishwasher-safe.

For hand-washing, the wide opening helps a lot. I can easily reach the bottom with a regular sponge, so there’s no need for a special bottle brush. The lid is fairly large, but it doesn’t have too many tiny crevices or a straw where gunk can hide.

There are two gaskets, though, and you shouldn’t ignore them. Gaskets tend to hold smells more than other parts, especially after shakes or flavored drinks. The gasket under the cap is easy to remove. The one on the lid takes a bit more effort, but it can still be taken out for proper cleaning.

The agitator is removable too. Just twist it slightly to the left, and it comes out easily.

Overall, you have five parts to disassemble and clean, so it’s not the simplest shaker ever. Still, compared to some bottles that feel like a puzzle every time you wash them, the MultiShaker is pretty manageable.

Durability

BrüMate generally makes drinkware that feels tough, and the MultiShaker follows that pattern. It has a thick, sturdy 18/8 stainless steel body, so I don’t feel like I need to treat it like delicate porcelain.

That said, my version doesn’t seem to have a traditional powder-coated finish, so scratches may show up more easily than they would on some textured bottles.

The lid also feels solid. There isn’t much that looks fragile or overcomplicated, although there is a spring inside the cap mechanism. So far, I haven’t had any issues with it, and the whole lid feels well put together.

Special Features

The MultiShaker also comes with three extra features that make it more practical in daily use.

The most important one is the agitator. It has an unusual shape and is designed to break up clumps more effectively. I tested it with my protein powder, and it works well. I rarely get clumps, though of course, the result depends on what you mix inside. Some powders are just more stubborn than others.

I also prefer this type of built-in agitator over a separate whisk ball. Whisk balls work, but they’re easy to misplace, and I’d rather not hunt for a tiny metal spring every time I want to make a shake.

Next, there are measurement markings inside the bottle. I like having these in any bottle, not just shakers. For a shaker, though, they’re especially useful because they help you get your water, powder, or supplement ratios right without guessing.

Finally, there’s a non-slip base. It also helps reduce noise when you set the bottle down. This isn’t the most important feature for me personally, but I can see why some people would appreciate it, especially if they use the shaker at work, early in the morning, or anywhere they don’t want to keep thudding a metal bottle onto a desk.

Versatility

I wouldn’t limit the MultiShaker to gym use only. It feels quite close to BrüMate’s regular bottles, so it can work well in plenty of everyday situations too.

For example, I like it for driving. It fits my car cup holder, and I can open and drink from it with one hand, which makes it much more convenient on the road.

The cold retention is also close to what I’d expect from premium bottles like Hydro Flask or Owala, so it can easily serve you well on hot summer days. In that sense, the MultiShaker feels less like a strict gym shaker and more like a hybrid between a workout bottle and an everyday bottle.

Of course, it’s not perfect for everything. If you want maximum insulation, a true all-season bottle that can handle near-boiling drinks without pressure issues, or something built for serious abuse, there are better options.

But for the gym, car rides, errands, work, and everyday cold drinks, the MultiShaker just works. And it looks good doing it.

Verdict: It’s Hard Not to Like It

The $35–$38 price for a 25 oz shaker is high. No doubt about it. But this is BrüMate, and in my experience, they’re one of the best drinkware brands around right now.

Their products usually feel polished, well-built, and thoughtfully designed. The MultiShaker is no exception. It also costs less than many Stanley bottles while offering a similar level of quality, which makes the price a little easier to swallow.

BrüMate says the attention to detail and design make this one of the most unique and best-looking shakers out there. The more I use it, the more I see where they’re coming from. It looks good in a gym locker, but it also doesn’t feel out of place sitting on my desk at the office.

That said, the MultiShaker isn’t the only shaker I’ve tested. If you want to see how it compares with other options, check out my best shaker bottles ranking.
